About SLGFA

The Student Loan Guarantee Foundation of Arkansas (SLGFA), a private nonprofit organization, is the primary guarantor for the state of Arkansas. SLGFA was established in December 1966 and has become a mainstay in the financial aid community by maintaining long-standing relationships with our school and lender clients.

What sets SLGFA apart from other guarantors is our ability to provide clients with individualized customer service, training, and support. This same personal attention is given to each and every customer, whether a student, parent, school, or lender.

Obtaining a higher education is a journey that requires commitment from parents, schools, and the lending community. SLGFA provides support services to each of these entities to ensure prompt loan processing and timely disbursement of funds needed to pay school expenses.

Student loan repayment is important to SLGFA. Teaching financial literacy and debt management skills are a priority at SLGFA. We conduct workshops and training for students, parents, and borrowers, and we assist schools and lenders with their default prevention efforts. We also have trained counselors and staff who provide information and options to borrowers who are experiencing difficulties making their payments.

Families and students will find that we are actively involved in community outreach projects as a goal to help others accomplish their educational and career objectives. We share information about college access by participating in various activities and workshops within the state.
