GUARANTY AGENCIES The nation’s student loan guarantors—approximately three dozen state agencies and nonprofit organizations that guarantee loans issued by private lenders—provide a variety of information resources, including consumer brochures, toll-free consumer hotlines, and helpful sites on the World Wide Web. Most guarantors serve students, parents, schools, and lenders within a particular state; however, some guarantors operate on a regional or national basis.
