Planning for the Future
Plan for College
College is an investment in your future – one that can lead to great returns, including higher earnings than if you just had a high school diploma. By planning for college early, you can save time and money and succeed in achieving your educational goals.
Talk to your guidance counselor
Guidance counselors can provide valuable advice to help you prepare for college, including letting you know what classes are necessary, eligibility requirements for Advanced Placement courses, and schedules and forms for the college admissions exams.
Prepare a college planning file
Create a file that includes copies of report cards, a list of awards and honors, a list of your involvement in school and community activities, and test scores from college entrance exams.
Maintain a list of schools that match your skills and interests. You also can keep records on admission requirements, deadlines, and financial aid opportunities to ease the stress of preparing for that next step.
